Cosmetic Surgery Pre & Post Surgery with Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

Any surgery causes trauma to the effected and surrounding tissue and of course, the surgeons care, knowledge and careful handling of the tissue minimizes the trauma, but sometimes after surgery oedema (swelling of the tissue) may occur.

After surgery tissue oedema is a medical problem of the highest importance.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) or post surgery massage dramatically improves the healing process of the tissue by draining the surrounding tissue of the effected area. It removes and replaces the old lymph with new. MLD takes away old worn out blood cells and waste products within the lymph, encourages bruising, swelling and pain to be reduced also new scars will be smoother and not so itchy.

Pre-Surgery Massage with MLD.
A one week pre-operative daily treatment of the region to be operated on will greatly improve post operative healing as this will prepare and smooth out the tissue ready for surgery. The massage will also prepare the patient for surgery mentally by reducing the stress level and calming the central nervous system.

The Treatment
MLD may commence 1 week after surgery or at your surgeons discretion. The first visit will be a short explanation on MLD, consultation, medical history will be taken, concentrating on the effected area to be addressed. Treatment usually lasts 1 hour.
